YES MASSIVE!!!

Yo, people, it’s done! The move is finished and the studio is back in business! Broadcasting brand new! No more Blasts from the Past and no more prerecorded sessions. They’re coming straight from the turntables, into the burner, uploaded to the server, and straight to your ears!

Jeez, seems longer when ya say it that way, huh?

Nonetheless! We’re back! J-BONE & The Foundation Rockers Hi-Fi are back in the Podcast business! Big Tunes! Big Forwards! Each and Every Time!

Yo, I brought the tunes up to just a bit more current in this one, but the message is still the same. I also got a little more lovey-dovey than I originally intended to, but yo, I’ve always been a sucka for Lovers Rock.

Here’s the track listing:

1. Ralo – I Am Not Afraid
2. Tarrus Riley – Marcus Teaching
3. Duane Stephenson – August Town
4. Duane Stephenson – Give a Helping Hand
5. Prestige – Tonight
6. Singing Sweet alongside Ghost – Love Somebody/Glory of Love
7. Singing Melody – Waiting For You
8. Thriller U – Power of Love
9. Sanchez –Always Be True
10. Beres Hammond – Can’t Stop A Man
11. Morgan Heritage – She’s Still Loving Me
12. Da’ville – On My Mind
13. Gentleman – Rumors
14. Shinehead – I Do Love You
15. Bitty Mclean & The Supersonics – Walk Away From Love
16. Ghost – Can’t Stop My Dreams

So yo, once again, thanks to each and every one of you for your patience while we moved the studio. Hopefully, if everything continues to run smoothly, we’ll back to dropping a new one of these into your box each week.

So yo, as usual, sit back, turn it up, and enjoy.

Until such time,

Stay Easy,

Yes Massive!!! Here it is!!! A thing called…..WPFW SESSIONS VOLUME III!!!

Yo, everyone, please forgive the delay in getting a new episode out to you. It’s taken a little longer than expected to get through the move and get the studio hooked back up and running right. This episode should be the last one of the “Blasts from the Past”. Starting next week we should be broadcasting the new episodes again. In the meantime, my main partner in crime, Mr. Smoovv Devastation, has been keeping the fire burnin’ with all his new posts. If you have not had a chance to check out his page, make sure to here: http://devastation.podomatic.com/ -- and make sure to subscribe to it as well!

As for this episode, I tried to make the last one a BIG one, and yo, these tunes are HUGE!!!!

And yo, all you Hutchy fans, make sure to check out his new single “Gas Prices” – IT’S LARGE!!!! Hear it on his MySpace page at: http://www.myspace.com/ruffcutrecords
And yo, the dub version? Forget about it! It’ll blow out your speakers!

Thanks again for all your patience.

Until such time.

A thing called……BOB MARLEY BIRTHDAY BASH!!!!!!!!

This was a live recording done back in February of 2003 at the Safari nightclub up on Georgia Avenue. It was the great Shada’s spot and he held down the place! He invited Smoovv and I up one night many years ago to guest select for his Bob Marley Birthday Celebration and it was surely a memorable event.

So check it here, J-Bone, Smoovv and Shada – live and direct from Safari in 2003!!

Stay tuned the next two or three weeks for more blasts from the past while we finally get the studio moved and set up again in its new location.

Yes Massive!!! Big thing this week! A thing called……FREDDIE MCGREGOR MEETS JOHNSTONE!

Since we’re still in the process of moving the studio, we unfortunately don’t really have the time to mix-up new sessions, so over the next couple of weeks we’re gonna be uploading some big, bad blasts from the past. Just a whole heap of WPFW sessions and live juggling things. This week you’re getting a PFW thing coming from September of 2005. It includes two seriously wicked interviews – the first one with a true living legend, Mr. Freddie McGregor, and the second with some cats I am honoured to be able to call my dear, dear friends – the mighty, mighty Johnstone!

So yo, sit back, turn it up and enjoy.

And also, remember, if your in the city this weekend, we’re having a little moving the studio, going away party, type thing. I’ll be playin’ a bit, Smoovv will be playin’ a bit, and yo, if you have a bag a records that you want to play a bit, pack ‘em up and bring ‘em on down! The more Selectors the better! We gonna be doing it upstairs at Chief Ike’s (1725 Columbia Road, NW) this Saturday, the 21st.

Until such time.

A thing called…..PICTURE ON THE WALL!!!

Hot off the turntables!!! Well, maybe not “Hott” off the tables. Ya see, since we’re still in the process of getting the studio moved, I had to pull out this old Roots mix by my main partner in crime, Mr. Smoovv Devastation. But yo, trust me, its wicked!

As Shinehead would say, straight to the max!!!!

No track listing, but I’m sure most of you will be able to pick out the artists on this session.

With the studio move underway, stay tuned in the next coming weeks for some vintage WPFW sessions we’re gonna have to pull out of the vault and put up here in Podcast format while some of the equipoment is still boxed up. They’re guaranteed to take ya down memory lane!

So yo, sit back, turn it up, and enjoy.

Here it is! Hot off the turntables!!!

Well, maybe not “hott” off the turntables. Ya see, we had a bit of a big, big storm that seemed to stall out right over the studio today and went and blasted out the power in the middle of the mix! Bad news with that.

But all is cool. We got the power back on and started from scratch and I’m damn happy with the final product! Here’s to hoping that all of you are too!

Yo, we’re in the middle of packing up to move the studio so most of the records have already been put into their boxes and taped up, but we still have a few lying around so this weeks mix, and probably the next three more or so, are gonna be complete mash ups! Just whatever it is that’s lying around, we’re gonna put ‘em together and see what happens. Should be very interesting for all involved.

And on another note, I got a phone call last week from DJ extraordinaire Hutchy – check his website http://www.ruffcutrecords.com/ for all the latest. Yo, serious business, the remix with George Nooks is straight killer! Anyway, Hutchy was telling me he wanted to hear the “old J-BONE” the one from WPFW days – no reverb, no effects. I told him I’d try, but that damn echo machine was callin’ me. It was sayin’, “J-BONE pick me up man! Don’t leave me down here! Plug the mic into me and let’s act crazy!” Yo Hutchy, I tried brother, but the effects won out! But I promise to lay up some old PFW mixes here soon so we can all sit back and remember when radio was good!

And as for PFW, remember people, you can still check out the veteran himself, Mr. Tony Carr on Sunday nights. Make sure to tune in!

Alright, enough long talking. Here’s the list:

1. Hypocrite Version
2. Hypocrite – Midnight Rider
3. Gone Clear – Tony Tuff
4. Karma Chameleon – Wayne Smith
5. Toyan – Children Children
6. Johnny Osbourne – Ice Cream Love
7. Linval Thompson – Look How Me Sexy
8. Don Carlos – I’m not Crazy
9. Frankie Paul – Worries In The Dance
10. Robert French – Meet Me By The River
11. Lady Ann – Informer (Murderer)
12. Wayne Jarrett – Chip In
13. Leroy Sibbles – Rock And Come On
14. Althea & Donna – Uptown Top Ranking
15. Marcia Aitkens – I’m Still In Love
16. John Holt – Strange Things
17. Itals – Ina Disa Time
18. Abyssinians – Forward Jah
19. Bob Marley & The Wailers – Slogans
20. Bob Marley & The Wailers – Stand Up Jamrock

An yo, for all of you in the DC area, we’re having a little going away thing on Saturday, June 21st over at Chief Ikes Mambo Room – 1725 Columbia Road, NW (upstairs). I’ll be playin' some tunes alongside Smoovv Devastation and assorted other cats that are gonna drop by with their bags of records to do their thing and send us off. So yo, if you’re in town, head on down.

Until such time.

Reggae Dancehall Sessions Special Request Volume II

Yes Massive! Special selection this week. I’m out traveling for a few days so my main partner in crime, both on the air and off, the man who is quiet on the mic but butter on the turntables, the man you all know and love, the one and only Mr. Smoovv Devastation has provided for your listening pleasure a thing called…….Reggae Dancehall Sessions – Special Request Volume II.

Smoovv actually handed me two different mixes that I had my choice of uploading this week. One was a total Lovers Rock thing – wicked in its own right, but it was the Richie Stephens track “Trying to get to you” on this dancehall mix that won me over. That Richie tune been burning up from the day he first voiced it! Can’t never get enough of it!

One thing Smoovv didn’t do was to provide me with a track listing for this session, and since we’re pressed on time I didn’t have the chance to go through the entire set to ink it up. But I’m certain most of you will know most, if not all, of these entries.

Smoovv’s bringing you this one from his Death Dealer Sound (check the wicked logo!) and you can find out more about the man via his Myspace page at:

So yo, as usual, sit back, turn it up, and enjoy.

Well, we’re now officially off the air at WPFW – give thanks to all of you who tuned in for the final mash up. Ten years and out. And so here it is, the first OFFICIAL podcast! Give thanks to all of you who provided such positive feedback on the test run – I’ll make sure to post another Dub session in a few weeks time. No dubs this time, just two instrumentals and a wicked selection of vocals. Be careful if ya driving and listening to this at the same time – if ya turn it up too loud its likely to make ya crash the car at points! Ha! Yes!

Yo, and big up Isiah Mentor (AKA: Lilly Melody) for providing the Intro to this session! Make sure you check him at: http://www.isiahmentor.com/

We still have tons of drops left over from the radio days, but unfortunately the majority of them are calling out the letters for the station and it would seem a bit silly to play them here. Over the next several months we’re going to attempt to link back up with some of those same artists and try to get some new drops for this podcast thing. Stay tuned for it.

GREETINGS MASSIVE!

Greetings Massive!

Welcome to the brand new Foundation Rockers Hi Fi podcast!

Although I was unable to respond personally to each and every one of you who emailed a request to be on this list, please know that all of your kind words did not go unnoticed or underappreciated. As you took the time to thank me for what we did on the air at WPFW, I am now taking the time to thank you for tuning in throughout the years – especially those of you who said that you still had cassette tapes of the first shows! Ya need to put those on a CD and get them to me so I can periodically upload them to the site here.

This post is really just a test to make sure that I am getting the right hold on this new format – please bear with me as I navigate this new forum. As my dear friend Fredstone from the mighty Johnstone reggae band pointed out (www.johnstonemusic.com), it will be a bit different, and take a minute getting into the mindset that although the music will be recorded live, the audience will only hear it afterwards. Those big forwards we always loved to get from you will not come via the telephone inside the studio anymore, but rather via messages posted to this blog. Like I said, it’s going to take me a minute to get my head around that.

But with all that being said, the audio contained here is a little dub thing I had done many years ago for a birthday bash held for Zee of the group See-I (www.myspace.com/seei) – which will explain the occasional reference to them throughout the recording. Quick historical note, See-I were the ones who originally brought me out to do one of my first ever live gigs (way too many years ago now to count) at some small, now long gone, joint that at the time was right across the street from the 9:30 Club. I remember D-Train (Moja Nya, S.T.O.R.M., et al fame) was there and it being just a nice easy vibe – although there was only about 15 people in the house. D was another cat who has shown much love from the beginning. Make sure to check him and whole S.T.O.R.M. crew out at: www.stormreggae.com.

Remember, this is only a test – however I do hope it will bring you some enjoyment. Once the show is officially off the air (Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 is the finale), my sincere hope is to begin uploading new shows here once a week.

And by the way, if any of you out there have experience with this blog/podcasting thing and have suggestions/instructions on how to make it better/more accessible, I’m all ears.

Until such time.

Stay easy.

J-BONE
